Albert Aguiar, CFA

Albert Aguiar joined Westwicke Partners in December 2017 as a Managing Director in the New York City office and is responsible for developing Westwicke Partner’s relationships with key institutional investors. Albert has established strong relationships with top small-cap and mid-cap asset managers during the many years he spent as a Small/Mid Cap Strategist at several bulge-bracket firms. He has expertise in active and passive small-cap and mid-cap investing and its unique liquidity characteristics.

Albert has over 20 years of institutional sales and capital markets experience, with a key focus on the small-cap and mid-cap markets. Most recently, he was Managing Director and Small/Mid Cap Strategist at Needham & Co. Albert joined Needham from Alliance Bernstein (Sanford C. Bernstein), where he was responsible for the growth of the firm’s small-cap and mid-cap sales and trading platform. Prior to that, he was a Small Cap Specialist at UBS (2011-2012) and at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (2007-2010), where he was responsible for the initial set up and launch of the firm’s small-cap product as well as sales and trading desk, equity research, and macro strategy. Albert also spent several years as a Portfolio Strategist, representing the small-cap and mid-cap value and healthcare portfolios at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers/BlackRock.

Albert’s tenure at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Nomura included being the deal captain on initial and secondary offerings of several healthcare companies. In addition, he advised institutional clients on several of the sub sectors, particularly biotech, specialty pharma, and medical technology. Albert was also responsible for developing proprietary content in healthcare, and functioned as an advisor to corporate management on market intelligence and liquidity. He also, launched and managed the SMID-cap multi-sector conferences at Merrill Lynch and UBS.

Albert has a B.S. in Business, Management and Finance from Brooklyn College and received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2005. He holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 securities licenses.  He lives in Bayside, Queens with his wife and four children.
